I really should be doing more to keep this blog up to date. It was suppose to act as an electronic diary that Rachael would one day inherit. Right now things still stands at:
all my jewellery
my recipe for marshmallow tea cakes
some retro clothes
the house
My reason for absence here is Facebook and Tumblr, which are both more a selfish choice than one that my daughter would be proud at. So we have come to this arrangement........when schools return in September (we'll be back in London by then) then so shall my entries here. Such a lot has happened and my own simple diary doesn't hold enough space for the fun we pack in. So my dear Blogger, I will return with zest so strong, you can smell me from here! I may even build a friends list.........! Bye then! ♥.

Up, up and away......
I'm so excited. Tonight my wonderful fiance is booking a hot air balloon as an early birthday pressie! Not quite the same as the plane to Rio, but I'm really excited. I know it's putting your trust in a load of wicker propelled by fire, but hey, at least we won't need to backtrack if he forgets a lighter for his ciggies!

Alice In Non Wonderland.
As a treat I told my daughter we could go and see a film sometime during the holidays. Of course, Alice In Wonderland sprang immediately to mind but I heard it may be a little 'dark and twisted' for her viewing.
"Of course it'll be dark and twisted" she replied. "How much fun would it be watched with the lights on and being able to see where we're going?"
Oh, well. I suppose half the fun is misjudging your footsteps and landing on the knee of a handsome young prince and crushing his Cornetto?

Bread and Butter
As we washed the teatime dishes tonight, Rach and I pondered over somethings and nothings. Asking if I was working tomorrow, I told her that, unfortunately, I was and hoped she would be a good girl for her father.
"Oh, no worries there, mum" she assured me. "I've already hidden one of his trainers and I'll help to find it tomorrow before we go out.......but if it rains I'll just keep it where it is!"
It's an awful habit men have of losing shoes. It's my purse when we shop together that I often forget! Tut!

Clash of the Tittans
Despite back problems, I'm still looking after my young niece. A lovely little thing by the name of Roseanne - or Roz as her friends like to call her.
Anyhow, at 13 she likes what she does, and does what she likes - unless she's around me! Stroppy madams are a nightmare to contend with, but a subtle touch is often what's needed. Taking advantage of the fact that I cannot get up and chase her, she's been pushing her luck a little. Last week we clashed opinions over what telly programmes we were about to view. Making a big issue out of missing a certain 'America's Next Model' show because I followed another regular one and both being on cable, couldn't tape it for her, she stropped in a manner in never been witnessed by me before and slammed the door using a few choice words.
Before her next visit, I asked my friend to tape my show on her video and would watch Roz' show with her. I was appalled at some of the language (beeped) and displays of selfishness, two-faced bigotry and sexual references. I at first thought it must be shows like this that are influencing teens all over the world. Then the other side of the show came through where the girls had too be focused, punctual, strong and prepared. This was hard work. Competitive. Roz was openly watching the girls reaction to all sorts of disappointment, hurt and jealousy and learning that they managed to overcome some of life's challenges.
I was wrong. The show wasn't influencing and changing her into another being at all. It was simple making her reach out to others in their teens and early twenties. The point of where her life will remain roughly the same. For in my teens was I not vain, selfish and two-faced? Rotten to my siblings? Of course I was. And if I'm honest, Roz perhaps reminded of how I exactly used to be but with the added bonus of compromise. For this day on we will be watching and taping in alternate weeks. But guess who's watching the repeats of the model show?

Lasting The Pace!
Work was a right shit one today. I spent more time out front of the shop on the strand than inside. As I deal in the second hand/auction hall business, it is most welcoming for the sun to add warmth and the evenings more light. It also helps having a local Spar on the corner with nice chilled red and rosé wines keenly priced. But I sat and downed the whole bottle in an afternoon with only 1 person stopping and looking.
In my last hour I was determined to make a sale and I bought some soil and a packet of gladiola bulbs and stood and planted them into a brass fire-side bucket (that we'd been tripping over for months) and stuck in a card to advertise the fact. I got it sold within the hour....! Mind you, I really only saved £1 by the time I counted the wine, soil and bulbs but a sales a sale!
Right - I'm off now. If I bump into you and I'm walking the route home via Spar, turn me around and send me in the bridge direction, please! That's the right way home!

For The First Time.
So. This is my first blog I'm about to attempt to post. All I'm really doing here is to pop up a bit about me for you. Excuse me then while I add some profile details and so on and perhaps a few pictures once I feel confident enough. Blogglanders, here I come...lol
